Looking for a job

o   Main questions you ask yourself when looking for a job: What, Why, How

o   Successful people look to the reason for “Why” they are looking for a job

o   Figure out several “Whys” so the “How” doesn’t matter any more

No one achieves goals alone – everyone needs and uses people

o   Shorten career success by modeling after others who have done what you want

o   Defy the odds with people who have the same or similar beliefs

o   To grow you need to seek people outside of your box

o   Your income is reflective of the top 10 people you hang out with

o   If you want more money or career success socialize with new people

To achieve a new set of results you need to change your actions

o   80% of our body language is automatic (past programming)

o   We can only control about 20%

o   Past programming can be changed but not with your old friends

o   Modeling self after new set of people helps you progress your career

6 degrees of separation for most people --- in Seattle it’s only a 2 ½ degrees of separation

Use LinkedIn, FaceBook and Twitter to network

o   Search is the strongest attribute for these websites - you can search people and companies

Using Twitter

o   to get followed you have to follow others first

o   Target marketing by following people and companies

o   Direct messages only for people following each other (reduces spam)

o   Use “@” and “#” for a searchable string (ex: #NBC)

o    Use http://tr.im to shorten long links so you can paste them in Twitter
